Tracks 2025 • Des Montagnes Studio Group Exhibition

CHAN Chung-shu, born in Hong Kong in 1952, founded Des Montagnes Studio in 1979. He has held eleven solo exhibitions and participated in over ninety group exhibitions globally. He served as president of multiple art societies and is a signature member of the Federation of Canadian Artists (AFCA), with award-winning works selected for major exhibitions in Canada.

CHAN Yiu-keung began his artistic career under masters CHAN Chung-shu and WONG Chong-wah. He refined his skills at Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts and taught at Des Montagnes Studio. Pursuing East-West integration, he studied Chinese painting and calligraphy. He founded James Studio in 2003, dedicating himself to art creation and teaching. His versatile vision spans oil painting, watercolor, and Chinese ink, showcased in exhibitions including the Hong Kong Art Society's 2007 exhibition.

Chek Ping-fai, with a background in Hong Kong comic production, studied Western painting and later pursued Chinese ink painting. His artistic journey spans Western painting, pen drawing, and Chinese ink, developing a renewed understanding of brush, ink, and line. Through sketching from life, he observes nature and urban environments, aiming to express his accumulated sensory experiences in his artworks.

HUNG Man-po is a community storyteller and designer inspired by local residents and urban landscapes. With over two decades of experience, his distinctive Ukiyo-e aesthetic is showcased in series like “Listening, Hong Kong,” conveying his affection for the city. Using his dual identity across design and visual art, he preserves Hong Kong’s cultural essence through compelling narratives.

Hung Sau-lai explores the relationship between humanity and nature, body and mind. She discovered ink painting after initial focus on copperplate engraving, finding its uncertainty and malleability inherent. For health and environmental reasons, she shifted to non-toxic art, creating works using woodblock printing, ink painting, and acrylic painting.

Andy Kwan, a Hong Kong-based artist, specialises in watercolour. Trained under Chan Chung-shu and Mark Tin-kit, he built a solid foundation in Western painting. He runs a private studio and has taught at various institutions. His award-winning works have been recognised in competitions including “Sun Museum” and “Philippe Charriol Foundation”.

KWONG Chi-kit, born in Hong Kong, is a full-time comics artist. After working in advertising in the U.S., he returned to Hong Kong in 2008 and started teaching for ten years. In 2020, he re-entered the comics industry; his personal work “The Architect’s Epiphany” and sci-fi work “Indigo” won awards in the Hong Kong Comic Support Program and have been licensed for French, English, and Malay editions. He is currently adapting Wang Yi’s “Lethal Weapons of Love and Passion” into a comic.

LAW Ka-yeung, a Hong Kong-born artist, has been creating since the 1990s with sketching, oil painting, and sculpture. He established Antenna Art Studio in 2019. His earlier works addressed social issues, while recent pieces focus on human spirituality through observational sketching. Since 2010, he has focused on art education, developing a style of realism and figurative expression, with works exhibited across Australia, Japan, China, and Hong Kong.

LEE Chi-ching, a Hong Kong-born artist and manga artist whose works encompass ink painting, oil painting, and comics. He became the first Hong Kong cartoonist to enter the Japanese market through his Chinese historical stories. He co-founded Ming Ho Publication Limited to produce comic adaptations of Jin Yong's novels, creating covers and illustrations. Since 2019, he has been writing an art column for Ming Pao Monthly.

LEE Ping-sun, a Hong Kong-born artist, is a dedicated practitioner of pencil art. He studied under masters CHAN Chung-shi and WONG Chong-wah, and served as an art instructor at Sai Kung Art Studio. His notable exhibitions include the Joint Exhibition by Des Montagnes Studio (1997-2011), solo exhibitions “Tree Artist” (2017) and “Lunchtime Sketches” (2023).

LEUNG Yiu-man, a Hong Kong-born artist, studied Western painting under master CHAN Chung-shu. Transitioning from graphic design, he has been a dedicated painting instructor for over 16 years. He is a member of multiple art societies including Des Montagnes Art Society and has participated in nine group exhibitions since 1990.

LIM Chiu-chin, a Hong Kong-born artist, trained at Des Montagnes Studio. He founded Chin Studio in 2000, serving as a painting instructor. Specializing in oil and watercolor plein air painting, his realist works focus on landscapes and portraits. Since 1987, his works have been exhibited in over 50 local and international exhibitions.

LO Ho-wah, born in Hong Kong, began his career as a designer and illustrator. While he primarily used acrylics in his early work, he embarked on a self-directed study of oil painting in 2007, which has since become his primary medium. In recent years, he has further expanded his practice by experimenting with mixed materials.

MAK born in Hong Kong in 1963, he presently serves as a gallery instructor. He received training in Western painting under Hong Kong master CHAN Chung-shu and studied traditional Chinese ink painting with LI Xunping.

MARK Tin-kit, a Hong Kong-born artist, began his comics career in 1983. He taught at Des Montagnes Studio from 1987 and founded Mark’s Studio in 2004. Alongside teaching, he engages in comic creation, publishing, and film storyboard artistry. His exhibitions include “One-Man Manga” and “City Glamour • Fading Memory” in 2023.
